Vacuum Chargers and Batteries: Buyer's Guide
Cordless stick vacuums, handheld vacuums and robot vacuums all depend on a rechargeable battery and a charger that works properly. Over time a battery holds less charge and the vacuum runs for shorter periods, while chargers, adaptors and cables can wear out or get damaged. We stock replacement batteries, chargers, power supplies, adaptors and docking stations for brands including Bosch, Electrolux and AEG, LG, Samsung, Miele and Nilfisk.
How to find the right battery or charger for your vacuum
The most reliable way to get the right part is to start with your vacuum's model number. On most cordless vacuums it is printed on a rating label on the main body or motor unit, often near the battery compartment or on the underside. It may also be in the instruction manual. Batteries and chargers usually have their own part number on the label too, such as the numbers starting with EAC on LG batteries or DJ96 on Samsung batteries.
Write down the full number, including any letters and slashes, and compare it with the compatible models in each product title and description. Batteries and chargers are not interchangeable between brands, and often not between models from the same brand, because voltage, capacity and connector type differ. If you are unsure, send us your model number and we will check for you.
Common types of vacuum battery and charger parts
| Part | What it does | Signs it needs replacing |
|---|---|---|
| Battery pack | Stores the power that runs the motor and brush | Much shorter run time, cutting out under load, or not holding a charge |
| Charger or power supply | Converts mains power to the correct charging voltage | No charging light, a damaged cable or plug, or a battery that will not charge |
| Adaptor or AC adaptor | Connects the vacuum or battery to the charger | A loose or intermittent connection, or visible damage to the connector |
| Docking station or charging stand | Holds the vacuum and charges it while stored | The vacuum does not charge when docked, or the contacts are worn or damaged |
A vacuum that will not charge is not always a battery problem. If you are not sure whether the battery, charger or vacuum is at fault, tell us what you are seeing along with your model number and we will help you narrow it down before you order.
Fitting tips
- Unplug the charger from the wall and remove the battery from the vacuum before you start, following your manual for how the battery releases.
- Check that the new battery or charger matches the old one for connector shape, voltage and part number before you fit it.
- Wipe the battery and charging contacts with a dry cloth so the connection is clean, and never use water on them.
- Do not charge or use a battery that is swollen, cracked, leaking or very hot. Stop using it and replace it.
- Take old batteries to a battery recycling drop-off instead of putting them in the household rubbish.
Chargers and power supplies run on mains electricity, so replace a faulty one rather than opening it up. For any electrical repair, use a licensed electrician.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find the right battery or charger for my vacuum?
How do I find the right battery or charger for my vacuum?
Find the model number on the rating label on your vacuum, usually near the battery compartment or on the underside, then match it to the compatible models in the product title and description. The battery or charger itself also has a part number printed on its label, which you can check against the part number in the product title.
Can I use a charger or battery from a different brand or model?
Can I use a charger or battery from a different brand or model?
Not safely unless the product is listed for your exact model. Voltage, capacity and connector type vary between brands and between models, so a charger that fits may still be the wrong one. If you are unsure, send us your model number and we will check.
How do I tell whether the battery or the charger is the problem?
How do I tell whether the battery or the charger is the problem?
A battery that runs for much less time than it used to, or will not hold a charge, is usually the cause. If there is no charging light at all, or the cable or plug is damaged, the charger or power supply is more likely at fault. Contact us with your model number and what you are seeing, and we will help narrow it down.
Can I fit a replacement vacuum battery myself?
Can I fit a replacement vacuum battery myself?
In most cases yes, as many batteries clip or slide out, but check your manual for how yours releases. Do not open chargers or power supplies, as they run on mains power, and use a licensed electrician for any electrical repair.

Send us your vacuum brand, model number and a photo of the rating label. Some parts are listed as enquiry only, and we may be able to source a part that isn't shown on the website.
